Rad Power Bikes Tariff Announcement
Many of you may have heard that there is a new tariff hitting electric bikes which will impact our business and future customers. This tariff has caused an increase in our electric bike pricing as of 12:00am PT, Thursday, Aug 23rd.
Our Co-Founders, Mike and Ty, put together a short video to explain the full details. In addition, you can find FAQs below.
As part of ongoing trade negotiations between the U.S. and China, a 25% tariff is being imposed on electric bikes. Although we have found ways to absorb much of the impact of the 25% tariff, we are still forced to increase the prices of our U.S. ebike models by $200.
The RadRover, RadMini, and RadCity models now cost $1,699 and the RadWagon is priced at $1,799.
The new prices will begin on Thursday, August 23. The last time to purchase an ebike at their current price is 11:59 PM PT on Wednesday, August 22.
The new prices are final and the increases are driven exclusively by the tariff that goes into effect on August 23rd.
As a direct to consumer business, we have always done everything we can to keep prices as low as possible. Unfortunately, this is a markup that we can’t avoid.
The change only impacts our USA ebike models. Prices of all accessories will not change, neither will availability. Prices in Canada and the EU will also remain the same.
Manufacturing in China allows us to achieve our quality and affordability standards while meeting a very high demand.
We analyzed all of our manufacturing options when we started building ebikes and continue to do so. It wasn’t, and still isn’t, feasible to manufacture in the U.S. for the price, quantity, and quality to which we are dedicated.
