What to Measure
Your “real inseam” -- or inside leg length -- is the distance between your body where it sits on your bike saddle and the ground.
This will typically be an inch or two longer than the length of your trousers, but you’ll want to measure to be sure.
You’ll use this number on the chart to get a feel for how the different models will fit you.
How to Measure
Gather the tools needed:
- Medium-width hardcover book
- Tape measure
- A wall you can stand against
- A trusted friend or relative
Wearing your regular riding shoes and with your back to the wall, stand with your feet spread so there is about 7 inches between them - this is about the distance apart your feet would be when straddling a bike with your feet on the ground (standover height).
Place a hardcover book against the wall with the spine of the book facing upward. Slide the book upwards towards your groin until it is solidly against your body. This may be a bit awkward, but is way more comfortable -- and safer! -- than trying to ride a bike that is too big.
If you have a buddy helping you, get them to measure from the floor to the top of the book spine while you hold the book in place. If you’re going it alone, carefully hold the book in place and measure from the ground to the top of the book spine.
A fuel gauge for your electrons.
Pedal Assist Level
The higher the number, the more the motor will boost you when you pedal.
5V, 1 Amp port to charge your phone or portable electronics on the go.
Calculate how many miles you didn't drive this year and how much money you saved on gas.
Can be set to current speed, max speed, or average speed.
Shows how much power the motor is outputting at any given time.
The Rad Battery Pack
With over a decade of designing and building ebikes under our belts, we know that a high-capacity battery like this isn’t something you cheap out on. We designed and built our batteries using genuine Samsung 35E cells, which are some of the most energy-dense and reliable lithium-ion cells on the market today. These cells have allowed us to build an overall better battery, and at only 7.7 lb, it's one of the lightest and most energy-dense packs on any electric bike.

Compact, Discreet, Maintenance-Free Hub Motor
With 750W and 80 Nm of torque at your disposal, this Bafang geared hub motor is what is going to help power you up steep inclines and get you up to top speed quickly from a dead stop, all while remaining quiet and inconspicuous. These kinds of numbers aren't even found on some of the most expensive mid drive systems out there, so prepare to outperform and outclass everyone you see on the road.

"The words 'comfort' and 'fun' rarely go hand in hand, much like 'inexpensive' and 'quality'. The RadRover manages to check off all those boxes which is no small feat."
Looking for something more accessible?
The RadRover Step-Thru 1 is a great option if you want many of the same features as the RadRover but with a much lower stand over height.
Not knowing if I'd like the ebike experience, Rad was recommend many times as a good choice for someone who wants a good quality bike for the $ without over spending, and it's been a solid bike 2 years now. For the $, it's difficult to go wrong with Rad. It was a great intro machine and I recommend the brand to people who ask about the bike, which happens a lot.
I will be moving onto another brand that costs considerably more now that I know ebikes are here to stay for me, but Rad Rover gave me several years of trouble free riding and is still best bang for the $ all around, even in the highly competitive market today, and they also have great customer service and that too should be part of any buying decisions.
If a company is known for poor CS, I'd avoid it no matter how nice the bike.
Cruising toward Retirement and now without Car Payments, I decided to Invest in my health by getting a bicycle. A few car payments saved up and after a bit of research I was Impressed at features provided with E-Bikes and was impressed they were, even fully equipped, half the price of some name brand Manual versions.
My Choice to buy the 2019 RadRover was a slam-dunk; an easy decision. I was fortunate to get mine fully assembled from the professional staff in Ballard and appreciate attention to detail. This is a smooth and easy bike to ride and I am quite impressed at it's Range and battery capacity. I can ride all week about 6-10 miles a day and the battery is still at half or better. This is really well built and only missing Mirrors. Adjust Shifter tension after 50 miles or so as the cable slightly stretches; Not Derailleur - just cable. Awesome Bike and my Reward for making the right Choice!!!
Good bike just bigger than expected
The bike is Great but I have some questions and your customer service response time is horrible. I have sent an email and have waited for days for a chance to talk to a live representative.
This is a great bike that I believe is a fantastic value. It is well built, with solid components. Colorado of course has many hills, and this bike makes them much easier to manage especially if you are not a cycling hero! Have had no problems with it at all. The company's customer service has been excellent so far (we had an issue during assembly - overtorqued a bolt and broke it - and the rep was spot on with his assistance). Thanks for helping us become Rad!
Every day that I can, I ride my RadRover 5 to work. It’s a short trip, less than 10 miles, but it’s through a nature preserve and along the Willamette River in Salem Oregon. I would not do this on a regular bike because I would have to shower by the time I got to work. With the Rad, it’s half the effort and all the fun!

Great bike. Brakes on both bikes I have, sqeeked out of the box and still do after many adjustments.
All I can say is awesome.
I love it, intuitive and easy to use. I live at the beach and it’s a thrill to ride effortlessly through the dry sand and through the dunes!!
