If you’re a California resident with an ebike voucher from a local or state program, you can use it toward any Rad model — including ones built to haul kids, gear, groceries, and whatever else your day throws your way.

FAQ

What is the California Ebike Incentive Project?

The California Ebike Incentive Project is a statewide program that offers point-of-sale voucher discounts for qualifying households. If your annual household income is less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), you may be eligible for up to $2,000 off an electric bike.

Can I use my voucher online?

Prefer to shop from home? You can browse all eligible ebikes online, and our Customer Support team is happy to help you place your voucher order remotely. Please call us at 1-800-939-0310.

Can I apply for a voucher?

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) manages this program and releases vouchers on a rolling basis. Check here to see if applications are currently open.

 

Please note: we do not control the timing, distribution, or eligibility requirements of these state-issued incentives.

What if I'm not in California?

The ebike I want is on sale. Can I stack my voucher to save even more?

Yes! Any discount on an eligible Rad electric bike that’s active at the time of purchase can be combined with your voucher. You may also be able to combine your incentive voucher with other non-CARB programs you qualify for. However, you can’t stack it with other California Air Resources Board (CARB) incentives like Clean Cars 4 All (CC4A). Just note: the total combined value of all discounts can’t exceed the purchase price of your ebike and other eligible items.

 

Can I use my voucher toward ebike accessories?

Yes, your voucher can be applied to the following accessories:

Helmets

Bike Locks

Rear or Front Racks

Fenders

Mirrors

Rear or Front Baskets

We have a selection of eligible accessories available both online and in-store. Remaining voucher funds can also be used to help cover assembly fees, delivery fees, and sales tax.

Please note: Eligible accessories must be purchased at the same time as your ebike and voucher redemption, and are limited to one item per accessory type.

 

Do I still owe local taxes on my ebike purchase?

Yes. Sales tax is calculated based on the full price of the bike before your $1,750 or $2,000 voucher is applied. Even if your final out-of-pocket cost is $0, we’re still required to collect tax on the original price. The good news: if you have remaining voucher funds, they can be used to help cover the sales tax.

 

Can I use my voucher to cover assembly fees?

Yes! As long as the service is added at the time of purchase and appears on the same receipt at a RadRetail location, your remaining voucher funds can be used for in-store assembly fees.
