Miles Per Charge (estimate)
Direct Drive Hub Motor
48V, 14 Ah
We know that the term "cozy" isn't usually associated with bicycles, but the low-step frame and swept-back bars make the RadCity Step-Thru a truly cozy bike to ride. Add to that the affordability, power, and features, this is the best electric comfort cruiser on the market.
750W Shengyi Direct Drive Hub Motor
The direct drive hub motor provides smooth acceleration and features regenerative braking to help recharge the battery any time you engage the brake levers.
Kenda K-Shield Puncture Resistant Tires
Made from a layer of aramid and ceramic particles inside the tire under the tread, the Kenda K-Shield integrated tire liner is a line of defense designed to provide extra protection against punctures from thorns, glass, and other small materials.
48V 14Ah Lithium-Ion Battery with Samsung 35E Cells
Our 48V 14Ah (672Wh) batteries give you an estimated 25-45+ miles per charge while maintaining a sleek profile.
Low-Step Frame Design
Mount and dismount the RadCity Step-Thru with ease. Featuring a 17" stand over height, this bike is perfect for those needing a more approachable package without sacrificing features or functionality.
Twist Grip Throttle
Get 750W of power on-demand with the twist grip throttle. The included on/off button helps prevent accidental activation and allows you to only use the throttle when you want to.
Integrated Rear Rack
Take the weight off of your back and have the RadCity Step-Thru carry it for you. Attach panniers, platforms, or baskets and let the RadCity carry your cargo, or mount a Yepp Maxi child seat and bring your child along for the ride!
Reflective Sidewall Striping
The new reflective tire sidewall striping removes the need for the orange wheel reflectors attached to the spokes like on our previous model generations. These reflective sidewalls are more durable and have a larger total reflective surface for increased visibility during night time rides. They look pretty sweet too, but that's not really a "feature."
180 mm Mechanical Disc Brakes
Front and rear 180 mm Tektro Aries mechanical disc brakes provide you with strong stopping power, even in loose terrain. Stop faster when it counts the most.
7-Speed, 11-34 Tooth Freewheel
Giving you a wider range of gearing at your disposal, the 7-speed, 11-34T freewheel means you can shift into the lowest gear for those treacherous uphill climbs or shift into the highest gear and still maintain pedal authority at top speed.
Integrated Brake Light
The integrated tail light is powered using the main battery pack and also features brake light functionality that is activated any time the brakes are applied. The new tail light will turn on along with the headlight for increased night time visibility and still maintains the brake light functionality. It also keeps the strobe feature, which can be toggled using the button located on the tail light.

With over a decade of designing and building ebikes under our belts, we know that a high-capacity battery like this isn’t something you cheap out on. We designed and built our batteries using genuine Samsung 35E cells, which are some of the most energy-dense and reliable lithium-ion cells on the market today. These cells have allowed us to build an overall better battery, and at only 7.7 lb, it's one of the lightest and most energy-dense packs on any electric bike.

Reliable, Smooth, Maintenance-Free
Using a brushless direct drive hub motor allows regenerative braking to be enabled as a standard feature. This allows the user to slow down when traveling downhill or coming to a stop while charging the battery in the process. Regenerative braking is automatically activated anytime you engage the brake levers, meaning you can take advantage of this amazing feature without having to do anything extra.
Ebikes should be fun, reliable, and most importantly, safe. We make safety a top priority in every product we make, which includes investing in the best components and features to make sure your bike takes as good of care of you as you do of it.

I haven't used the car for solo trips since I got the bike. Put it together with a friend pretty easily. It needed a serious tune-up at about 100 miles as the spokes all needed tightening and were making a lot of noise. Brakes are super loud and squeaky and will probably need to be upgraded, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.
I love this bike. Very easy to switch gears and to change pedal assist mode on the fly. I’m now able to join my friends on any level of ride they want to do.
Both of our RadCity Stepthrus were damaged in the same location. The bar that protects the derailleur was bent in far enough to prevent the gears from shifting properly. My opinion is that this was due to the packaging not being sufficient for cross country shipping.
I submitted an email to support and 2 weeks later (or more), I have not received a response. I submitted photos showing the damage. I’m happy with the quality of the bikes. But not at all with their lack of response. I expected more after all the praise I’ve read about this company.
I did a lot of research on line to help me decide on which e-bike would be best for me.
I decided on the step thru commuter. I did have a question concerning accessories which I intended to ask about while ordering.
i calledand was put on hold forever. i hung up and called again later---same thing!! After a frustrating time trying to buy your bike
was leaving the computer when "Amazon" came on and showed a Canadian bike ( dje-bikes) It had the same specs as your bike
and was readily available. I have and am enjoying it very much. I just got back from Nantucket where they have blke paths all over the island
I put on about 163 miles. You have since asked me on your site why I haven't finished my order It's very difficult to do.
Either you do not have the capacity to handle your calls or you have too few people tring to handle sales.
I am age 75, 6'1", 230 pounds. Retired so I ride for pleasure. My 2018 was 12 months old in June 2019. Current mileage 790 miles. Living in north San Diego County. Most of my riding is the San Luis Rey River bike trail - 18 miles round trip. Oceanside Marina and coast highway. San Diego bike lanes are too narrow in my opinion to be ride on safely...We also have lots of texters that we share the road with so I transport to the river trail or marina.
In May I was invited to tour the local ranches in the hills north of Highway 76. My guide took me up the steepest grades I have ever been on in any bike...and I climbed them all though for many I was in first gear, pedal assist 5. Speed 2-3 miles an hour...SITTING DOWN!! I would have had to "walk" a regular bike up the hill. That day I rode 36 miles and was just entering the 5th battery square when we were done.
The regular bike I rode 2 times per month. The RAD I ride 2-3 times per week. I absolutely love this thing.. Go RAD!!
I have had the RadCity Step-thru for a couple of weeks now, and I am very impressed with this bike, and with Rad Power Bikes as a company.
1) The bike was shipped promptly, arriving a day before the estimated delivery.
2) The bike was packaged well; there was no damage to any parts during shipment.
3) The included instructions and videos on the website made assembly a breeze.
4) The one glitch I had during assembly was quickly and efficiently resolved by Rad tech support. They were friendly and knowledgeable.
5) This bike is incredibly fun to ride. I've already put over 200km on it. It has effectively replaced my car for all in-town transit. It is comfortable and quick.
6) The motor is whisper quiet, which is quite nice.
7) The motor has plenty of power. I've only used the 1st level of pedal assist for biking around town. I tested the other levels to make sure they worked, but I imagine I'll only need those for climbing the Matterhorn.
8) The battery is incredible. I charged it up to full capacity and ran a distance test on it using the 1st level of pedal assist. From fully charged to one blinking bar (the equivalent of a gas light on a car), I was able to travel 140km, which is nearly double the range advertised by Rad!
9) The bike is attractive. In the two weeks I've owned it, several people have complimented me on this bike. True, you don't buy a bike for the praise of strangers, but it is nice to have an aesthetically pleasing ride.
I'm sure I'll come up with other reasons I love this bike as the months go by, but for the time being, I'll close with this: if you're thinking about buying one, DO IT!!! You won't regret it.
First 500mi. on my Rad City Step Thru, June 2019, Long Island, NY. Only brakes needed adjusting. I got what I expected....an OUTSTANDING bike!
Looking forward to purchasing a second Step Thru for use in FL.
Purchase about 9 months ago ride everwhere. Love this bike commute to work everyday with it have 1,500 miles and still rides like champ. There customer service is also 5star. Expensive but worth it.
Went out for my second ride since it arrived and I have people on Facebook asking and while riding in the park a guy stopped he's car ran up to me to ask if I liked it or asked lots of ??? I could stop smiling while telling him how great this bike is ,we showed how it works ,and gave out the web site . I did get a yell out cheater from a older woman who was struggling with her regular bike . I yelled back , work smarter not harder! And her husband laughed and agreed 😂 love my bike ❤️
Best Bike in the whole world . Put on miles today didn't want to stop for sure . Rode with a smile on my face the whole ride woohoo . Thank you rad power bikes for making my life better and for such a great experience . Rad on 🤘
