What to Measure
Your “real inseam” -- or inside leg length -- is the distance between your body where it sits on your bike saddle and the ground.
This will typically be an inch or two longer than the length of your trousers, but you’ll want to measure to be sure.
You’ll use this number on the chart to get a feel for how the different models will fit you.
How to Measure
Gather the tools needed:
- Medium-width hardcover book
- Tape measure
- A wall you can stand against
- A trusted friend or relative
Wearing your regular riding shoes and with your back to the wall, stand with your feet spread so there is about 7 inches between them - this is about the distance apart your feet would be when straddling a bike with your feet on the ground (standover height).
Place a hardcover book against the wall with the spine of the book facing upward. Slide the book upwards towards your groin until it is solidly against your body. This may be a bit awkward, but is way more comfortable -- and safer! -- than trying to ride a bike that is too big.
If you have a buddy helping you, get them to measure from the floor to the top of the book spine while you hold the book in place. If you’re going it alone, carefully hold the book in place and measure from the ground to the top of the book spine.
A fuel gauge for your electrons.
Pedal Assist Level
The higher the number, the more the motor will boost you when you pedal.
5V, 1 Amp port to charge your phone or portable electronics on the go.
Calculate how many miles you didn't drive this year and how much money you saved on gas.
Can be set to current speed, max speed, or average speed.
Shows how much power the motor is outputting at any given time.
The Rad Battery Pack
With over a decade of designing and building ebikes under our belts, we know that a high-capacity battery like this isn’t something you cheap out on. We designed and built our batteries using genuine Samsung 35E cells, which are some of the most energy-dense and reliable lithium-ion cells on the market today. These cells have allowed us to build an overall better battery, and at only 7.7 lb, it's one of the lightest and most energy-dense packs on any electric bike.

Reliable, Smooth, Maintenance-Free Hub Motor
Using a brushless direct drive hub motor allows regenerative braking to be enabled as a standard feature. This allows the user to slow down when traveling downhill or coming to a stop while charging the battery in the process. Regenerative braking is automatically activated anytime you engage the brake levers, meaning you can take advantage of this amazing feature without having to do anything extra.

"People who might have known about ebikes but struggled to find one that was approachable and well balanced now have a great option."
Looking for something more traditional?
The RadCity 4 is a great option if you want many of the same features as the RadCity Step-Thru but in a more traditional, familiar frame style.
RadCity Step-Thru Electric Commuter Bike Version 3
I've had a lot of trouble with my knees as I age...even biking was difficult with them getting swollen and sore - mainly getting up the hills in our area was what kept me from doing it. I chose to go with my Rad City Step Through rather than a scooter (just so I could continually pedal and get some movement in my joints at the very least). I tell ya, haven't had this much fun in years...feeling the wind blow through my hair, biking with my husband (and passing him on steep hills with a smile on my face) has been awesome. Exploring natural beauty roads around us that I've always wished I could other than by car has been absolutely awesome! Best decision I've ever made and my husband was thrilled to see how happy I was zooming around. No issues with the bikd so far (after a month). Highly recommend!
It’s a great bike, and I’m learning lots about riding.....
We bought 2 for our lake house. We liked them so much we bought 2 more for our primary residence
I bought the RadCity ST-3 for my wife's birthday, and she loves it! For the type of riding we do--mostly rail trails and bike paths--the battery lasts forever! The only problem out of the box was a slight derailleur adjustment for 7th gear. We loved it wo much, I ordered one for myself!
Admittedly, part of me being frustrated with bike-riding in the past is because I live at the top of a mile-long hill. I'd cut-short trips knowing that whenever I turned back I'd have to conquer it. Again and again. Fast forward to my RadCity ST - I'm riding much further, using PAS less and less, but now, if I choose, I have the option to let Wilma (my bike) do the work on that big hill home.
Excellent customer service. Great support. Well-built bike (even my bike guys says so, too!). Huge value for the money.
A fun aside: I was riding a local trail a few weeks ago and a couple of two high-dollar Cannondale ebikes were drooling over my simple little RadCity. I'd passed them heading up a steep grade earlier, and they wondered how I did it. Three cheers for Rad! :)
Wife and I bought RAD City Step Thru as a fun way to get our minds out of the house and get some much needed exercise as well. Took a three mile trip around the town. Needed the motor only at the very top of hills. Great gearing for older folks like us. 1-3 are easy to peddle and give enough speed to make the ride fun. So far...so good. :)
This bike exceeds all expectations. It's powerful, but not overwhelming. Provides help only when I need it. It's great.
Really love my new bike! Very high quality bike, excellent ownership resources from RadPower (videos, manuals, emails). I’m able to get around my neighborhood easily for quick grocery runs or for fun on trails and the paved Greenway. It’s the best of both worlds: bicycle and motor bike
Think about before buying: weight of frame, bike rack transport needs, invest in a good helmet and lock
Only 73 miles on the odometer but many more to come. It’s a 5 in my book.
